Payroll Tax and Voluntary Disclosure Opportunity

Simon Flowers
The Victorian State Revenue Office is conducting free payroll tax seminars or webinars for specific industries in February 2014. These seminars will address common mistakes and errors that the SRO know customer sometime make when lodging their payroll tax declarations.

One key announcement the SRO has made is that if you attend one of these seminars/webinars and believe you have made errors or you realize that you should be registered for payroll tax and you make a voluntary disclosure, the SRO will reduce the retrospective period to 1 financial year, remit all penalties and will only charge interest at the market rate only.

However, to be eligible for the voluntary disclosure opportunity you must first attend one of the seminars/webinars and lodge a voluntary disclosure by 31 March 2014.

Please be aware this could be a good opportunity for those wishing to make a voluntary disclosure on payroll tax and limit you tax to one year only.

If you require further information on this please contact Simon Flowers or Leigh Harry of this office.
