We can describe our culture but there is nothing like hearing what it's like to work at LBW than from the people themselves.  Below are a collection of stories from some of our people.

Karlee Duynhoven - Graduate Accounting Division

Karlee DuynhovenHi, my name is Karlee and I'm a graduate Accountant at LBW having been with the firm for just over one year.  I started my Bachelor of Commerce/Laws in sunny Darwin and I have spent the past 3 years studying at Deakin University.  The first six months at LBW I was studying and working part time.  This helped me to develop my skills in preparing financial reports, preparing BAS' and completing individual and company returns and in applying this to my subjects at university.

I chose to work at LBW not only because of their exceptional reputation around Geelong but also because of their commitment to their clients - to provide a comprehensive, multi faceted wealth and financial service.  LBW's active involvement in the Geelong community was a pleasant surprise as I personally believe that all businesses should contribute to their communities.  Just recently LBW participated in a working bee at a local school to rebuild a play space and create a garden.  This was provided in the form of a volunteer day by the firm.

In my spare time as well as playing netball for Bell Post Hill I love to challenge myself physically by competing in events such as Spartan Obstacle races and Geelong's half marathon.  I also have a passion for yoga and have two cavoodles that I spoil regularly.

Rachael Somers - Accountant Superannuation Division

Rachael SomersI started working at LBW in October 2008.  I completed my work experience placement for high school and was lucky enough to be offered an internship at the end of the placement.  I worked part time in the Superannuation team whilst completing high school and studying at university.  In February 2015 I finished my Bachelor of Commerce/Laws from Deakin University.  It was at this time I started working full time and began working in both the superannuation and accounting teams.  In November 2016 I completed my Practical legal training course with Leo Cussens.

LBW is a great place to work - everyone is extremely friendly, everyone is willing to lend a hand and the firm prides itself superior client service. In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, walking my miniature Dachshunds and spending time with family and friends.

Melissa Wight - Senior Accountant Accounting Division

Melissa WightI started working with LBW in July 2016 after working for an accounting firm in Melbourne for 5 years.  I graduated from Deakin University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Commerce and am currently in the process of completing my CPA.  I chose to work at LBW because of the support network and encouragement that it offers to employees to achieve their goals.  LBW also have a diverse client base and opportunities to develop knowledge in specific industries.

At the start of 2017 I was promoted to senior accountant.  This role has enabled me to expand my current client base and to increase my tax knowledge by being expose to lots of new learning experiences.  While it has been challenging learning a new computer system, the people at LBW have made the transition so much easier.

I love that LBW have become focused on creating a healthier environment for everyone.  I am currently an active member of the internal Health & Wellness Committee.  A couple of initiatives created by the committee include group personal training, community volunteer work and on site massages.

In my spare time I enjoy participating in obstacle course challenges, a variety of exercises and usually have something planned for every day of the week.
